On an unforgettable and absorbing excursion, learn more about the interesting history of the ancient world and admire designed gardens and fascinating wells.
Start the day being picked up from your hotel and head east out of the city. You will firstly visit the Villa Adriana or Hadrian’s Villa, the former holiday home of the Emperor Hadrian, which was built in the 2nd Century AD. Thermal baths, temples, palaces, theatres and other terrific places of interest are waiting to be explored. During the tour, your guide will tell you interesting stories about the emperor’s past journeys, which were supposed to have inspired many monuments
After a short drive, you will arrive at Tivoli’s other famous villa, the gorgeous Villa d’Este. The Villa d’Este was built in 1550, the heyday of the Renaissance, for Cardinal Ippolito II d’Este, who was then Governor of Tivoli. Enjoy this walk with your guide through the pleasure garden with its 100 wells and the “gloriette”.
